DC Style Factory 2015 Year in Review
It’s our first 2016 day of clients, photoshoots, meetings and more! Before we jump into all the great things waiting for us this year, it’s time to do a quick roundup of the highlights of 2015. I have been posting some of my very favorite moments of the last year on Instagram (@dcstylefactory) so I asked our stylists to do the same.
This past year was a record year for DC Style Factory in terms of clients served. We more than doubled our number of hours shopping, auditing closets, creating outfits, packing for trips and more. Our clients are the backbone of DC Style Factory. We are so grateful for all the wonderful people we had the opportunity to work with this past year and look forward to working with all of you in 2016!
We added to our team, jumped into the world of video this past year, produced events, styled photoshoots and so much more. We partnered with local bloggers, organizations, boutiques and local fashion creatives. Check out what our stylists had to say about their favorite moments of 2015.
N’jeri Agyeman, Associate Stylist
2015 was great. I styled one of my first photoshoot’s for a client’s daughter. I also participated in styling my very first editorial for a magazine publication — a neo-victorian spread Northern Virginia Magazine. It was definitely a lot of hard work, but I was so proud to open up the magazine, see the gorgeous looks, and know that that my sweat and hard work helped bring the whole thing together.
2015 has taught me to persevere, have confidence in the work that I put out, and strategies to effectively produce great work with my team. Cheers for killing more of this style game in 2016!
Marisa Gonzalez, Stylist
2015 was quite a year! I started working with DC Style Factory in September and within days had the wonderful opportunity of working with the Events Manager for Washingtonian Magazine. I got to style her for the uber stylish Washingtonian Style Setters event. It was so much fun pulling dresses to impress the “who’s who” in DC fashion. It was truly a fun experience and it opened a lot of doors for me as a stylist.
Not to sound too cliche, but 2015 has taught me that dreams really can come true! Here’s to many more in 2016!
Jennifer Barger, Stylist
I had so many favorite styling moments in 2015, but among the top ones:
With clients, I loved helping people meet new challenges via their wardrobes—I helped one client build a wardrobe to be a boss lady in Tunisia (aka, she had to look professional but also conservative enough for a foreign culture), another male client transition from grad school dad to public policy pro and multiple women head back to work after having a kiddo. It’s terrific to see how feeling confident, organized and polished can help you get ready for a workday or new life.
Rosana Vollmerhausen, Chief Stylist
I can’t pick! There were so many highlights of the year. I got to partner with amazing organizations, host a number of fashion shows, work with friends, and so, so much more.
I ventured out of my comfort zone quite a bit this year when it comes to public speaking. I think those moments stand out the most to me. I worked on TV, in a number of videos and produced workshops and corporate style events. The corporate style event at Troutman Sanders was such a fun evening. Any time I get to work with busy, professional women juggling work, family and life, I feel most in my element. I am so thankful for these opportunities to showcase what we do through avenues outside our client work.
In terms of working with clients — do I have to choose? I get texts everyday from past and present clients and it reminds me why I love my job so much. One of my favorite client moments of 2015 was working with one of my long-time clients on her new wardrobe — post-double mastectomy. To be a small part of each person’s journey in life is such a privilege. I am thankful for that opportunity every day.
In 2016 we are embarking on new initiatives for the company: company branding with a new video and website, additional ways to stay connected to our clients, remote styling services and more.
