So I don’t go to a ton of events — mostly because time is tight. But I was scheduled to be in Arlington yesterday with a client so the stars were aligned. I had the pleasure of attending The Pink Armoire launch party with some of my favorite ladies and bloggers, Maria Jose Ovalle of Very Busy Mama and Chelsea of The Chelsea Chronicles.
The colorful, feminine line by Elizabeth Mason of Periwinkle in Arlington and Alexandria serves up “designer looks at wallet friendly prices.” We were gifted our favorite items from the collection, which is available online and all priced affordably (think Trina Turk-inspired dresses for $60 or less). I chose this midi skirt, falling in love with the color and chevron pattern.
This morning, I initially put it on with a navy stripe top tucked in but…not quite. The skirt is a LOT of skirt and although I love mixing prints, it felt like a lot of look on my petite frame. So I opted to go for something more neutral — my silk white J. Crew buttonup (similar here). I initially had it tucked in, but my top half looked much smaller than my bottom half. So I tied it, which gave me more waist definition and bloused better. Plus it just felt more youthful and fun.
Shopped with my client this morning (who asked right away where she could get the skirt) and then forced my assistant to engage in a ridiculously awkward impromptu photo sesh with my iphone. But here’s how I ultimately ended up wearing the skirt:
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow mamas!
