Five to Survive: Spring Closet Essentials
Spring is here! Before we break out the florals and sandals. We’ve rounded up the five warm-weather wardrobe staples every one needs to survive the season. Spring is all about looking fresh so make sure your essentials do too!
1. Nonathletic kicks
When the weather gets warmer a pair of comfy yet stylish sneaks are a must for running out the door to do errands or soak up the sun. Right now there’s so many options besides the basic white Converse. Try a stylish slip on or lace-up. If your only sneakers are the ones you put on when you head to the gym, it’s time to invest in a nonathletic pair.

2. No-Show Socks
Once you’ve got the cute sneaks you’ll need a pair of no-show socks to go with them. Most “athleisure” kicks are best worn with socks for comfort, but socks sticking out are a style no-no. The no-show socks look great with spring and summer footwear, but easily get lost in the dryer so pick up a 10 pairs to get you through the season. We highly recommend liner socks where the toe-box area comes up a bit higher on the foot. This keeps them from slipping off, and becoming a highly annoying and uncomfortable ball in the middle of your foot.

3. The White T-shirt
A white tee with jeans is a classic warm-weather combo, but they yellow and stain easily. If yours is starting to look a dingy shade of not-white-at-all, it’s time to get a new one. Also, make sure the one you have has a neckline that flatters. A deep scoop neck work well on all body types.

The fun of warm-weather clothing are details like sheer fabric, crochet, or lace. All of these require a base layer or a camisole. Camisoles need to be fitted since they are worn as second-skin under outer garments. Are yours looking a little tired and stretched out? Time to invest in new ones. Make sure you’re stocked with at least four: two white, one black, and one nude.

5. Nude Heels
A great pair of pointy-toe nude heels is a spring essential with dresses or skirts. They instantly elongate your legs! Check to see if yours could use some attention from your cobbler. Scuffs, heel caps and soles can be repaired, but ripped heels and torn leather may just mean it’s time for a new pair.
